Poetry

Podcasting . . . break students into small groups (3 to 4 students). Allow students to choose the style (hiaku, end rhyme, sonnet, ode, etc.) of poetry they want their group to learn about and present.

Each group will create a Podcast about their style of poetry. They must define the characteristics of their assigned style; present three to four examples; and create at least one original poem written in the style they are presenting.

Once they have written their scripts, student record a newslike podcast with the information they have learned and the poetry they have selected.

  1. I think that this is an excellent extension! The nice thing is it lends itself for all students. The gifted student can then take it a step further and do bigger & better things with it if you are in a traditional classroom & are trying to differentiate.
